2008-02-08 - 9th Annual Children's Benefit Concert : 9th Annual Children's Benefit Concert
In October 1998 at the age of ten, Chi Nguyen began raising money with her sister Truc for street children in their parents' homeland, Vietnam. Since 1998, the two sisters have organized eight benefit concerts and sold homemade almond toffee and Chi's personal collection of Beanie Babies. 2008 will mark the tenth anniversary of Chi and Truc's fundraising.

After this concert, the sisters plan to expand their projects into a new phase. Although 2008 is the last opportunity to attend the annual Children's Benefit Concert, patrons can expect to participate and contribute during events and projects of different formats in the coming years. Interested supporters should e-mail worldinterchange@gmail.com to be added to the mailing list to be notified of these upcoming events.

Chi and Truc's concerts provide clothing, meals, books, literacy classes, and basic medical needs for about 100 street children annually. To date, the projects have touched the lives of over 1,000 Vietnamese children, offering orphaned and homeless children a sense of community and family and the opportunity for a better life. Each year, Bay Area residents attend the concert to show strong support for both the music and the Vietnamese children.
